Our Irresponsible Media

The irresponsible American media seem to uniquely search for salacious or tragic stories rather than what is important. The Florida Quran burning threat is a good example. Why in the world did any newspaper or TV station even cover this trivial story? Surely if I ran out into the street and proclaimed that I was going to burn a Quran, nobody would pay any attention to me. So why did the media pick up this unimportant story about Pastor Jones and his teeny congregation? The reason is to create sensationalism whenever possible. If the media hadn't reported it, this non-event never would have become discovered and no international trauma would have arisen. Yet, this same media regularly ignores very important news in favor of tabloid stories concerning Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan.

Why have almost none of us ever heard about the "Tear Drop?" Oh, you didn't hear about it either? Well, it was a magnificent gesture by Russia's then-President Putin to commemorate the 9/11 victims in 2006 with a monument in Bayonne, New Jersey bearing all of the names of the victims. Putin even sent the artist to the U.S. to supervise the construction of this 100 feet-tall monument. The videos below show us something of which all Americans should have been made aware. But this very significant event was not nasty enough to cause distension and strife or prurient enough to cause an emotional rush. Shame on our media.
